i watched a man die

literally.  he was a proud man.  he went on his terms.  a long fought battle with cancer.  he was a good man.  it happened in a flash.  one moment life.  one moment a life of experience became memories.  i wish i could have had more time.  as he often stated, "nothing is forever".

figuratively.  his son is a good man.  kind, considerate.  hoped for life, endurance.  stood by his father's side the entire time, strong, caring.  i see the father in the son and the son in the father.  i wish they could have had more time.
