winter really is a bitch.  finally after 30 days, it takes hold.  negative wind chill factors, lake effect snow.  i was spoiled last year by the lack of cold and snow.  i just want the sun and warmth around all year.  after a few days of bitter extremes, it should moderate to more tolerable conditions.  i have on two layers of socks just to keep my feet warm.  anything below 50 degrees is just not pleasant.  brrrr.

impossibilities

it was an incredibly warm weekend for january.  temperatures in the 50s.  nice.  started working on redoing a coffee table for the media room.  painted the base and legs with a granite treatment.  pictures of the entire project should appear at some point.  got a 3d blu ray player and disc (frankenweenie, a disney feature of course).  went out for breakfast then to a matinee of the impossible, an intense, riveting, devastating, heart wrenching, hopeful movie about the indonesian tsunami.  once the movie started, the theater became silent, no crinkling of wrappers or bags, the audience focused on the screen.  when the movie was done, outside it was getting cold, sleeting, and changing over to snow.  a quick stop for some groceries and home for the day.  baked some chocolate chip cookies and caught up with shows on the dvr.  temperatures are still falling.  guess winter is really happening.  damn.

winter is going on.  cold temperatures, snow, gloomy days.  going about my days one at a time.  beginning the process of taking down the christmas trees and decorations.  starting a restoration project on an old coffee table.  watching tv, attempting to read, listening to music.  basically distracting myself from the doldrum of winter.  each day brings warmth, spring, closer.

ariel the mermaid has been exploring a sunken ship with her friend flounder, but he is not as brave as her.  after a shark chases them, ariel laughs it off but flounder is shaking with fear.  'oh flounder, you really are a guppy' ariel laughs.
