On Monday, September 18th, we were out of the hotel by 8:00AM, heading over to Bear Country, USA about ten miles down the road from Rapid City. It is a drive through wild animal park with moose, mountain goats, wolves, elk, bison, deer, and even bear. There is a walk through area also which contains smaller animals like badgers, raccoons, bobcats, and fox. From there we drove about 25 miles over to Mount Rushmore National Memorial. What a magnificent place. We browsed the gift shop, got some souvenirs, and bottled water, then hit the road to Devils Tower National Monument located about 130 miles from Mount Rushmore in Devils Tower, WY. We crossed the stateline from SD to WY and discovered the speed limit was 80 MPH. Wheeeeee!!!! Once we arrived, we walked the one mile tower trail around the base of Devils Tower. After stopping in the visitor's center, we got back on the road and headed out to Cody, WY, our rest stop for the evening. It was approximately 300 miles and about five hours away. We arrived around 7:00PM, settled into our hotel, then headed out to explore the town.
