Europa - Deutschland Part I: Berlin

We caught the streetcar outside our hotel back to the Glowny to catch the first train to Warszawa (Warsaw).  We had breakfast at the McDonald's at the station.  I ordered the Farmer's McMuffin, a sausage and egg mcmuffin with a horseradish sauce. It came with french fries and a coffee.  We boarded the train and were on our way.  Once in Warszawa, we had to switch trains.  After a brief layover, we got on the next train.  Destination: Berlin, Germany.  After a five hour train ride, we arrived at the Hauptbahnhof in Berlin.  We then rode the subway to the Zoologischer Garten station, the closest stop to our hotel, the Hotel Luetzow.  We had about a 15 to 20 minute walk.  I noticed an ineresting building several blocks in front of us, the Protestant Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, known as Gedächtniskirche. The original church was badly damaged in a WWII bombing raid in 1943. The damaged spire of the old church has been retained and its ground floor has been made into a memorial hall.  We checked into our hotel, dropped off our bags, and went out to eat at a restaurant recommended by the concierge.  Once we were done eating, we walked around the area of the Gedächtniskirche and the hotel.  We headed back to the hotel after a few hours to get some rest, so we could begin exploring Berlin.
